Science
The Clarendon College offers Science courses for all key stages in the college. The following pages have been set up to offer some guidance to what the courses offer. On clicking on the links below you can visit the various sections of the Science Faculty.
Key Stage Three
This consists of a number of topics, each falling into the category of either biology, chemistry or physics. We start the Year 7 course with an introduction to Science in which the students will learn basic lab safety and some essential techniques.
Key Stage Four
Science is a core subject in the National Curriculum. This means that every student must follow a Balanced Science course at every school in the country. All students at Clarendon will study Science throughout years 10m and 11. They will take either Science and Additional Science (two GCSEs), Applied Science (two GCSEs) or Triple Science (threee separate GCSEs in Physics. Chemistry and Biology). At the end of the course students gain two GCSE grades in science. Some students will follow a Certificate of Achievement course which runs alongside the GCSE. In most cases these students will be entered for both. The Certificate of Achievement is examined by OCR and is resourced and supported by two books published by Collins. The course is very practical and “hands-on.”
