Science @ Key Stage Three

Students complete a wide range of units throughout years seven, eight and nine. These topics take their subject matter from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students will be taught in their tutor groups in year seven and in set groups in years eight and nine.

The lessons will be carried out by a range of teachers with various science specialisms .

The topics covered include; 'The environment'; Simple Chemical Reactions; Gravity and Space; Reproduction; Environmental Chemistry and Speeding Up.

Key Stage three is also a time where scientific enquiry skills are used and improved. Consequently, tasks and investigations are set up to improve these important skills.

Students' progress is monitored throughout Key Stage Three. Forms of assessment will include Level Assessed Tasks and End of Cycle Tests. The final form of assessment will be during year nine when students sit the National SSAT test.

There are many opportunities during years seven, eight and nine to take part in various activities run by members of science staff. These include lectures and trips to universities and '@Bristol'. Also including various workshops and events held in school.
