This course is for those students who show both an interest and aptitude for Physical Education. It provides an opportunity to learn about theoretical aspects of sport as well as improving the physical skills of those involved.
The course content is 40% theory and 60% practical. Students will be assessed practically throughout the course on skills of the following activities, badminton, basketball, hockey, soccer, swimming and athletics. Students with strengths or talent in other areas will be able to submit these for assessment by special arrangement with the teacher leading the course.
At the end of the course students will sit one examination paper based on the theoretical aspects of health, safety and training; factors affecting fitness and reasons and opportunities for participation.
The course is interesting and demanding and requires full commitment from those choosing it. You will gain an insight into the wider issues involved in sport and develop your own performance levels.
