Music @ Key Stage Four
The main requirement for this course is students enjoy music and want to develop and improve on a wide variety of skills based on listening, composing and performing. Parts of the course are easier if students already play an instrument but it is possible to start from scratch as long as the right preparation and practice is put in.
GCSE Music requires each candidate to produce a CD containing examples of their compositions and performances. There is also a listening exam.
Students will spend some lessons concentrating on developing skills to do with listening . Other lessons will concentrate on using the instruments to compose own music and learning how to perform pieces of students own choice and working with others.
There will be many opportunities for students to see and hear live music at concerts and shows as well as perform in college concerts and productions. GCSE students are expected to support the music departmentextra curricular activities.,
